New EU Study on Raw Milk Kefir

There is a new EU study about the consumption of kefir made of raw milk and the association with reduction of intestinal, skin, and fatigue problems.

Many raw milk supporters here in Australia culture or have cultured their raw milk with kefir grains. It is common practise. Many people have talked about their raw milk kefir and the health benefits they receive on our ARMM Facebook Page. It is good to see research prove what we already know and see for ourselves. There are definite noticeable benefits to consuming kefir made from raw milk from healthy, grass-fed animals. A huge thank you to European researchers for sharing your work with the world.

What is raw milk kefir?

Kefir is a fermented product made from raw milk and kefir grains. It contains essential amino acids, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, tryptophan, folic acid, and vitamins B1, B12 and K (Otlzes & Gagindi 2003).

Kefir of raw milk is a natural probiotic, because it contains yeasts, and probiotic bacteria.  Definition of probiotic: probiotic is a living microbial food supplement which promotes the health of the host by improving the microbial balance in the intestine (Ouwehand et al 1989).

Consumers of raw milk kefir were asked about the changes in their health after regular consumption of kefir. here, the self-reported changes are presented (figure 1) plus the length of the period of change (figure 2).

Conclusion:

Raw milk kefir helps to reduce intestinal, skin and fatigue problems.

This study shows that intestinal, skin and fatigue problems can start reducing between eight and 30 days.
